Deanna owns and operates a private voice studio known as the Studio for the
Musical Arts, where she specializes in developing the female teenage voice.
The Studio is committed to excellence in music education and performance
through a supportive, nurturing and fun environment. Basic principles of
vocal pedagogy are taught to develop healthy voice use and comfortable singing.
Appropriate repertoire is chosen to develop the voice, foster enthusiasm, and build self-confidence.
In order to accommodate her students' varying interests and goals, Ms Reuben
teaches classical, broadway and popular commercial vocal techniques.
She feels that it is very important for a student to not only develop a solid
vocal technique, but also possess solid musicianship skills. Therefore, all
lessons also include sight-singing and ear training. If a new student hasn't
had any prior music lessons, and thus can't read music, she requires that they
study basic piano with her or another teacher.
The Studio itself is designed with two pianos - a grand piano and a digital piano
for recording accompaniments and lessons onto a CD.
Deanna's students have won many vocal competitions and earned scholarships to
major music conservatories and universities.
Ms Reuben holds a B.A. in music from Alvernia College. In addition she is a
graduate of the Contemporary Commercial Pedagogy Institute held at Shenandoah
University. The curriculum was based on the principles of Somatic Voicework, the
Lovetri Method, developed and presented by the internationally recognized
Jeanette Lovetri.
Deanna is a long standing member of The National Association of Teachers of Singing. She also is a member of The Voice Foundation, Music Teachers National Association, and the Reading Music Teachers Association.
Additionally, Deanna teaches group voice classes, and opera appreciation courses
for adult education programs.
